a
Benefits & Payroll Coordinator
position
at
a
local
Quad City Business.
Responsibilities:
- Researches and compares new and existing benefit plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the organization’s plans competitive and effective.
- Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
- Negotiate with vendors and administrators for the best plans, options, and rates.
- S erve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators .
- Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration .
- Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency .
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes .
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fee s.
- Coordinate daily benefits processing .
- Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing .
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records .
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans .
- Forecast trends, assist with future benefits designs and develop specific recommendations for review by management .
- Provide customer service support to internal and external customers and develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.
- Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions .
- Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information .
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
- Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge .
- Assists with calculating and setting up various withholdings and company fringes including withholding, garnishments, and unemployment .
- Researches and compares new and existing benefit plans and makes recommendations for .
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting , Business, Finance, Human Resources, or other related degree .
- 5 years of payroll and benefit experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency.
- Must be organized and have strong attention to detail.
