Responsibilities:
- Developing / Writing / Implementing and the Oversight of Financial / Accounting Policies and Procedures, including but not limited to Internal Control a nd Internal Review of Financial Accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP
- Developing / Executing / Maintaining Cost Allocation Plans
- Supervision of staff who work within the Accounting System
- Training staff who work within the Accounting System
- Developing/ Writing Accounting Instructions / Directions for staff who work within the Accounting System.
- General Ledger Management, Transaction Review, and Reconciliation of General Ledger
- Monthly Reconciliation of the Appropriate General Ledger Accounts with Financial Institutions' Bank Statements and Investment Statements
- Accounting System Recovery, should the system be compromised
- Budget Preparation, Review, Maintenance - to include preparing agency program budgets and incorporating all program budgets into the agency budget (documented by workpapers)
Invoicing Government Contracts / Grants
- Accounts Receivables & Accounts Payables
- Payroll and Related Liabilities / 1099 Reporting
- Accounting for Financial Assets and Liabilities
- Accounting for Fixed Asset Inventory and Depreciation
- Assisting with Annual Financial Audit and State Financial Audits - providing documentation, Trial
- Balance / other Accounting Reports, and responding to inquiries as needed
- Monthly Financial Reporting to Management and Board of Directors, Basic Financial Statements and Reporting. Balance Sheet.
- Income Statement — Statement of Support, Revenue, and Expenses Comparative Statements.
- Budget and Budget vs Actual Reports
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Human Services, or a related field, or a combination f education with experience in human service agency.
- Associate’s degree (minimum) or
bachelor’s degree
(preferred) in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Emphasis on Accounting) Required.
- Five to Seven Years' Current and Verifiable Accounting Experience
- Working Knowledge of Basic Financial Statements of Audited Nonprofits
- Specialized Reporting upon request
- Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop / Online or Comparable Accounting Program
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Proficient in ADOBE PDF
- The Knowledge and Skills to Work Independently - to provide oversight for all accounting activities, and to ensure that when the books go to the Financial Auditor for the annual financial audit or to State Monitors, the accounting records are "ready" for audit.
- A Positive Can-Do Attitude and Approach to Problem-Solving while working within Regulatory GAAP and Audit Requirements
- Strong Organizational, Written, and Verbal Communication Skills, with a Proven Ability to Meet Deadlines
- Strong Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills
