Job Title: CNC Setup Operator

Job Summary:
The CNC Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, and turning on metal or plastic workpieces. This role ensures the efficient and precise operation of CNC machinery and adherence to all safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and Operation:
- Set up CNC machines according to specifications, including loading programs, adjusting settings, and preparing tools.
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, sketches, and CAD designs to determine machining sequences and dimensions.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and fixtures on CNC machines.
- Quality Control:
- Perform initial test runs to ensure machine setup is accurate.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process.
- Document and report any mechanical or technical problems to maintenance personnel.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding machine operation, setup, and maintenance.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to management.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of
3
years of experience as a CNC operator or machinist.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming and machine operation.
- Familiarity with G-code and M-code programming.
- Experience with various types of CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders).
- Soft Skills:
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects
