Transportation Specialist (Driver)
Location: Great Kansas City Area
Hours:
Monday-Friday (following the school district calendar)
6am-4pm Early morning and late afternoon hours are typical
Wage:
$30 per trip (up to 10 trips per day)
The Transportation Specialist
is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as to special events and activities, in a timely and reliable manner. The driver must maintain a high level of safety, adhere to policies, and create a positive environment for students during their commute. The right fit candidate will be driving their own vehicle (fully insured), be first aid and CPR certified.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Transportation:
Safely operate along designated routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students. Monitor students during transport to ensure safety
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all traffic laws, state regulations, and district policies while driving. Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues immediately to the Transportation Supervisor. Assist students in and out of the vehicle safely. Maintain log of miles
- Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and the Transportation Supervisor. Address and resolve any concerns or issues that arise during transportation in a professional manner.
- Maintenance: Perform yearly safety inspections of vehicle no matter the model year
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a courteous and respectful attitude toward students, parents, and staff. Adhere to the district’s code of conduct and represent the school district in a positive manner. Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable at all time
Qualifications (Must Haves):
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. MUST BE 21 OR OLDER
- License/Certification (Required):
- Valid Driver’s License (KS or MO)
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Pass a national background check and drug test
- Posses or obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications, DOT physical, and TB test
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and safe driving practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students of all ages.
- Ability to work in all types of conditions (example: darkness, rain, snow, heat, cold, etc)
